What an America — or a world — without sports looks like
New Rochelle, NY( CNN) My firstly breaking point came when the breast page of the New York Daily News described my metropoli as “NEW ROCH-HELL, ” something those of us who live in and around the so-called containment zone took fairly personally.
But then it get worse: Major League Baseball announced it was canceling the remainder of spring training and delaying Opening Day. You don’t know what you’ve came until it’s gone, the old saying croaks. Baseball will not, it seems, be the space my family whiles apart the hours here in the “hot spot” that is New Rochelle, and I’m OK with that because a date without athletics in America — never mind weeks without boasts in America — might be exactly what we need to understand what living in the middle of a global pandemic conveys.
Life in New Rochelle is currently full of conflicts.
