Prince Harry isn’t merely a sovereign — he’s a real life hero!
In an interrogation with Armies News , lesbian soldier James Wharton retained the time the Duke of Sussex protected him from homophobic abuse in 2008 after some soldiers were making him a hard time for being who he is.
Wharton remembered feeling “quite uncomfortable” at the time, asking 😛 TAGEND
“I’d got myself into a little of different situations with some soldiers from another platoon and, essentially, they didn’t’ like the facts of the case that I was gay. They were sort-of chest poking me and clearing me feel quite uncomfortable.”
Thankfully, Harry was his tank commander, and the royal wasn’t about to let such homophobic sillines continue under his watch.
He continued 😛 TAGEND
“I got into my barrel where Prince Harry was doing something, and he could see that I was clearly was influenced by something and he asked me what the problem was. I told him that there were a couple of soldiers outside who weren’t very pleased about that with the fact that I was gay.”
Wharton revealed that Meghan Markle ’s husband — who he described as a “good” officer who was “well-liked” — was “quite offended” that he was being picked on because of his sexuality, so he stepped in. The soldier added 😛 TAGEND
“Prince Harry went out and considered these soldiers and spoke to them, and the problem went away. He “ve told them” off and they left me alone.”
Bravo! We want, this shouldn’t have been happening in the first place. But, bravo, Harry!
Wharton previously opened up about Harry’s support in his 2013 record, Out in the Army , in which he depicted the ordeal in a much more serious light.
Claiming that a group of soldiers from another regiment threatened to “batter” him, Wharton wrote 😛 TAGEND
“I told him[ Prince Harry ],’ I conceive I’m going to be slaughtered by the infantry.’ I descended into the turret and talked Harry through exactly what had happened. He had a complete review of confusion on his face … I couldn’t stop the ruptures from welling up in my eyes. He said,’ Right I’m going to sort this s ** t out once and for all.’”
Wharton noted that Harry approached the group without hesitation, and that the situation was “sorted” immediately after. He continued 😛 TAGEND
“I will always be grateful to Harry. I will never forget what happened. Until he went over and dealt with everything I was on track for a battering.”
Say what you will about the monarch, but Harry’s done good for many beings over the years — and we’re sure he and Meg will continue to do so with their “progressive brand-new role” away from the rest of the imperials!
