After Donald Trump referred to Apple’s CEO Tim Cook as “Tim Apple, “ Stephen Colbert weighed in on the “ongoing national gossip that we’re announcing Applegate( not Christina ). “
There was no way Trump’s gaffe, which took place last week at a White House roundtable, would get by The Late Show host.
“Tim Apple, yeah, one of the three famed Apple Boys: Tim, Pine and Cran, ” Colbert joked on Monday night.
Trump wheeled out two different apologizes for the error, first telling sponsors that he actually said “Tim Cook Apple” really quickly, but that that the “fake news” media hadn’t heard the “Cook” part.
Later, Trump tweeted a second version of phenomena, saying he’d actually said “Tim/ Apple” as “an easy way to save words.”
“Mr President, paroles don’t time disappear from the middle-of-the-road of convicts, ” said Colbert. “Unless it’s CBS bleeping me when I say self-justifications like this are **** ing insane.”
